Dry and sunny conditions expected in most parts of Kenya this week

Most areas of Kenya are expected to experience dry and sunny weather throughout the week, the Kenya Meteorological Department has said.
The forecast covers the period from Tuesday, September 23, to Monday, September 29, 2025. It shows that rain will mainly fall in the Highlands east and west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and parts of north-western Kenya.

Daytime temperatures will be highest in parts of the Coast, northern and north-western regions, reaching up to 30°C, while night temperatures will drop to around 10°C in the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley, and the Mt Kilimanjaro area.
The department also warned of strong winds of more than 25 knots across the Coast, south-eastern lowlands, north-eastern and north-western Kenya. These winds could create hazards for shipping, transport, and other infrastructure.
Reviewing the previous week’s weather from September 15 to 21, Kenya Met reported that Kitale received 76.4mm of rain in seven days, with 59.0mm falling in just 24 hours on September 20.
Mandera was recorded as the hottest county at 38.6°C on September 16, while Nyahururu was the coldest at 5.0°C on September 21.
Between September 16 and 22, the department had predicted heavy rainfall in Nairobi, the Rift Valley, Western Kenya, Lake Victoria Basin, the Coast, and parts of the Central Highlands.
While most parts of the country will remain sunny, the department urged residents in areas expecting rain to stay alert to possible disruptions. Strong winds, particularly from the south-east, are likely to affect marine and transport activities.
Temperature differences will remain across regions, with daytime highs exceeding 30°C in the Coast, north-eastern and north-western Kenya, and night-time lows dropping below 10°C in the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley, and Mt Kilimanjaro region.
Kenya Met said it will continue monitoring weather conditions and provide updates. The department reminded the public to follow official reports and take precautions in areas prone to heavy rain, strong winds, and extreme temperatures.
